Crazy House by James Patterson
Becca Greenfield was a 17-year-old student when she went missing. She was taken to where all the other missing kids in town were which was known as the Crazy House. In the Crazy House, two people are put into a stadium to fight while the others watch from the bleachers. Becca's sister Cassie is the complete opposite of her personality and is more careful and precise. Throughout the story, they both undergo changes while Becca became calmer and friendlier Cassie became more of a risk-taker. They have not seen much of there family since their mother was taken away for a "mood adjust" and their father has been in the hospital. The setting is in the Crazy House which takes place in the future. In their town, everyone has a place they live in called a cell in which they have a curfew everyone has to be in their cell by a certain time. These cells also allow them to not be able to get sick. The tone that the author creates is an eerie tone and gives kind of an uncanny mood to the readers due to the setting and mysteriousness of the text. A possible theme that can be discussed is being able to survive is essential because in the text after everything they've been put through they still try to escape and put up with stuff in order to survive.
